Welcome to the New Theme Parkology Website
Let's be completely honest with ourselves: a newer, fresher look for our digital home was long, long overdue. While we have loved diving deep into the history, design, and preservation of our favorite themed spaces, our old layout was starting to feel a bit like a closed 1970s dark ride—charming, but desperately in need of a modern tech overhaul.
Today, I am thrilled to pull back the construction walls and welcome you to the all-new Theme Parkology website! We have rebuilt the experience from the ground up to make exploring your favorite niche corners of themed entertainment sleeker, faster, and more immersive.
Here is a roadmap of the brand-new pages and features you can start exploring right now:
THE VAULT
Step inside our digital archives. The Vault is a dedicated space where lost, abandoned, and entirely forgotten theme park projects are preserved. If a ride, land, or concept was wiped from the master plans before the public ever got a chance to see it, you will find its history resting safely here. It also looks into various Theme Parkology projects that are collecting dust on a virtual shelf. There are four topics to explore:
REPURPOSED ATTRACTIONS - which dives into various attractions that merged into another project. Such as the vintage Submarine Voyage that was reconstructed into Finding Nemo: Submarine Voyage.
SHELVED PROJECTS - dives deep into the Big Thunder Animated Intro that was slated for Theme Parkology's Big Thunder documentary. This article will explore the ideas behind what would've been a great intro.
THEME PARKOLOGY CLUBHOUSE - explores the history of a once purpose Clubhouse for Theme Parkology fans. It looks into the history and demise of an idea that would have included various filmed shorts and interviews.
LOST PROJECT: DISCOVERY BAY - ventures into a complete land pitched for Disneyland by Disney Imagineer Tony Baxter. This article looks into what would have been and share rare photos of the land.
QUEUE-TUNES
Need a bit of auditory atmosphere while you work or study? Head over to Queue-Tunes. This section is entirely dedicated to the quirky, catchy, and sometimes beautifully bizarre theme park background loops and area songs that keep listeners entertained while waiting in line.
